Welcome to St John's CofE Early Years Foundation Stage!
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are excited to share with you the wonderful learning journey your children have embarked upon this half term! Our topic, ’All Things Bright and Beautiful,’ is all about exploring the natural world around us. The children have shown great enthusiasm as we delve into the growth of plants and animals, sparking their curiosity about the environment.
In our literacy sessions, we are enjoying writing fiction pieces inspired by classic tales such as ’Jack and the Beanstalk’ and ’The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ These stories not only ignite their imaginations but also help develop their storytelling skills. Additionally, we are learning to write informative pieces about frogs and ducks, which ties in beautifully with our theme. We are also thrilled to announce that we will be welcoming some special visitors to our classroom—our very own ducklings! This hands-on experience will surely enhance their understanding of life cycles.
Our phonics learning is progressing wonderfully, and we encourage you to support your child at home by practising their tricky words. This reinforcement will greatly aid their reading and writing skills.
In mathematics, we are focusing on numbers up to 10 and beyond, before moving on to the exciting world of measuring. The children are developing their number sense and learning to compare quantities, which is a vital skill at this stage.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement in your child’s learning. We look forward to sharing more of their achievements with you in the coming weeks!
