Year 1/2 Spring Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we welcome this spring half term, we are excited to share what your children will be exploring in the coming weeks! Last half term, our Space topic was a huge hit, and we’re delighted to continue this theme in our challenge area. The children will be diving deeper into their learning, and we can’t wait to see their creativity flourish!

In Literacy, we will be focusing on completing instructions based on the delightful book Man on the Moon. This engaging text will set the stage for our next adventure as we explore the story of The Disgusting Sandwich.

In Maths, our young learners will embark on their journey into multiplication and division. We will introduce concepts such as ‘lots of’ and ‘groups of’, helping them to understand these foundational ideas in a fun and interactive way.

Our Science topic this term is all about plants and their structures. After exploring various plants and trees, the children will have the opportunity to engage in some hands-on learning in Design Technology by growing and creating their very own cress. This practical activity will not only be enjoyable but will also reinforce their understanding of plant life.

In RE, we will be discussing what it means to belong to a faith community. This topic will encourage the children to reflect on their own beliefs and the importance of community in our lives.
