Year 5/6 Summer Term 1

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we begin our new half term, we are excited to share what your children will be learning in the coming weeks.

In Literacy, we will be wrapping up our persuasive writing unit focused on The Not Bad Animals. The children have shown great creativity and enthusiasm in crafting their arguments. Following this, we will dive into our topic on the Maya, where students will have the opportunity to write their own narratives inspired by this fascinating ancient civilisation.

In Maths, we are concluding our exploration of wider areas of the curriculum, including measures, shape, and statistics. As we prepare for the SATs, we will be revising key facts and honing our reasoning skills to ensure our students feel confident and well-prepared.

In Science, we will finish our unit on growth and change in animals. After that, we are excited to embark on a research project highlighting women in science, celebrating their contributions and inspiring our students to explore scientific careers.

In Religious Education, we will be discussing what it means to be a Muslim in Britain today. This topic will encourage our students to reflect on diversity and the importance of understanding different cultures and beliefs.

Lastly, in Computing, we will continue our work on coding, where students will develop their skills in programming and problem-solving.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to an engaging and productive half term ahead!

Warm regards,

The UKS2 Team
