Admissions

Entry into Nursery

At St John's we have one intake into Nursery each year in September. Children can join our Nursery so long as they have their fourth birthday during the year that they start Nursery . For example , if your child is 3 years old in November they would join our nursery the following September. If your child is 3 years old in July, they would start the forthcoming September.

If you would like your child to have a nursery place at St John's , please register your child's details with the office and we will send you an application pack to complete and return to school. We will need to see proof of your child's date of birth when you return the application form (this can be the birth certificate, red medical book or passport).

Children can receive 15 hours a week of nursery education which is split  over 5 days having 3 hours per day . Our current session time is :

Morning : 8.55am - 11.55am

We follow Tameside's admission policy to allocate our nursery places and a copy of this policy can be viewed here.

Entry into Reception class

We have one intake of children in Autumn each year and children are usually admitted into Reception Class in the September following their 4th birthday. Prospective parents are very welcome to make an appointment to come and have a look round our school before they choose which school they would like to apply for.

St John's follows Tameside Council's Admission policy and all applications for places in Reception class are dealt with by the Admissions Department at Tameside Council. The school remains neutral in this process.

Parents are asked to submit their application online via www.tameside.gov.uk/schools/admissions. If you need any assistance making the application or need access to a computer, please let us know as we can help you with this. Places are then allocated late Spring/ early Summer .  We recommend reading the 'Starting Out' booklet produced by Tameside Council as this explains the full admissions process and also details the over subscription criteria used to allocate places if we have more applications than places available.
